Q: Who did you root for growing up?
Carswell: I am a local guy,but growing up I rooted for the Dallas Cowboys because my dad is a huge Cowboys fan.
Q: Who was your idol growing up?
Carswell: My idols growing up were Emmitt Smith and Deion Sanders because until high school I was playing both runningback and cornerback.
Q: What are your strengths as a player? What do you bring to the team?
Carswell: My strengths as a player, I would say, are my route running and physical attitude. I have no problem doing the “dirty work” as far as blocking or being in the trenches as I did at USC, but I like to also pride myself on being a smart WR because I like to know what everyone is doing on offense and not just myself.
Q: Why did you choose the Raiders as a free agent?
Carswell: I chose the Raiders because it was a great situation, being local, and having my old WR coach there, there was some familiarity. But also I felt as if I could help the team get back to their winning ways.
Q: Do you know anyone currently on the squad or coaching staff?
Carswell: I know the WR coach Ted Gilmore because he was at USC with me this past season. TE David Ausberry is on the team and we were really good friends at USC. Also coming in as a Free agent is CB Conroy Black from Utah – we both trained at the same place to get ready for our pro days at EVOsports in Long Beach, California.
Q: Is there anything you’d like Raider Nation to know about you? Is there anything you’d like to say to Raider Nation?
Carswell: I just want the RaiderNation to know that I am going to do everything in my ability to help the team, and that I thank them for their support, and that I am excited for this opportunity!!
