Getting to Know Christo Bilukidi

Getting to Know Christo BilukidiWith their sixth round, 189th pick overall, of the 2012 draft, the Raiders tabbed DT Christo Bilukidi from Georgia State to join their roster.  Bilukidi became the first player ever selected from the school, which is in the Football Championship Subdvision (FCS, formerly Division 1-AA).

Bilukidi played in basketball in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and has only somewhat recently become a football player as a Senior in High School.

Bilukidi played for Eastern Arizona Junior College in 2009 where he was listed as playing DE.  He played in 10 games and ended with 24 total tackles, 5 for loss and 4 sacks that season.

He transitioned to Georgia State in 2010 and 2011 where he was their top defensive lineman with 10 career sacks – the school’s record – and 16 career tackles for loss over the two seasons.  He achieved 5 sacks both years playing for Georgia State.

He lined up at DT, mostly, but also was able to slide over to play DE at need.

Bilukidi has recently joined Twitter and you can follow him, there @montechristo96

Interview:

Q: What is your home city/country?

Bilukidi: Ottawa, Canada

Q: Did you root for a particular NFL team growing up? Who?  Why?

Bilukidi: No I was more of a soccer fan growing up

Q:
If not, when did you get into football?  At that point, did you have a certain player or team that you rooted for?

Bilukidi: I started playing when I was a senior in high school [at which point] I followed the San Diego Chargers.

Q:
Did you have an idol growing up?  Who? Why?

Bilukidi: I didn’t really have an idol but when Lebron James first joined the NBA, I became a huge fan of his.

Q:
You’ve lived in a number of different countries – Angola, France, Brazil, Canada – as well as at least a couple of states – Arizona and Georgia – to my knowledge.  Does any of these countries feel more like home than the others?  Why?

Bilukidi: definitely Canada is where I call home, [because] everything I know and love is out there.

Q:
What are your strengths as a player?  What do you bring to the team?

Bilukidi: I’m explosive and athletic for my size. I’m also a quick learner and very coachable.

Q:
Did you meet with anyone from the Raiders coaching staff prior to being drafted?  Did you know they were interested?

Bilukidi: No I didn’t meet any of the coaching staff but I did take a visit to Oakland so I knew there were some sort of interest.

Q:
Prior to being drafted, did you know anyone personally who is currently on the squad or coaching staff?  What did they tell you about the team?

Bilukidi: No, I didn’t know anyone.

Q:
What hobbies do you have away from football?

Bilukidi: Boxing! I like boxing training because it helps me with my football and it’s an interesting sport.

Q:
If you’re a gamer, what system and (if you don’t mind) what is your ID so Raider Nation can play against you?

Bilukidi: I play Xbox but I don’t play online

Q:
Which NFL player do you compare your skill set with?

Bilukidi: I couldn’t even tell you, because I haven’t watched enough film on other D tackles

Q: Is there anything you’d like Raider Nation to know about you?

Bilukidi: That I’m working hard to make the 53 man roster and look forward to seeing all the games
