Getting to Know Myke Tavarres

Recently I had the privilege of interviewing Eagles hopeful Myke Tavarres. First off, I want to say this, he is a GREAT guy. I cannot stress that enough, he is a great guy. To give you a little background, Myke Tavarres is a UDFA the Eagles picked up. He is a linebacker from Incarnate Word, where he picked up these honors; AFCA FCS All-America First Team, AP FCS All-America Second Team, STATS FCS All-America First Team, STATS FCS Defensive Player of the Year Watch List, CFPA FCS Linebacker of the Year Watch List, Southland Newcomer of the Year, Southland First Team (LB), Southland Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 5), College Sports Madness Southland Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 5). Here is a quote that describes his play perfectly.

“Tavarres is a stand up pass rusher that gets off the ball like as if he was shot out of a cannon. His speed off of the edge minimizes any size issues that he may have. Offensive linemen get surprised by his speed and scramble to get into their drops. This limits the linemen from establishing a strong base and it allows Tavarres to either run them over or utilize one of the pass rushing moves that from his repertoire. He was able to use a variety of moves to get to the quarterback. One of his best moves is a quick swim move that he pairs with an outside jab step that opens up a clear path for him to the quarterback. He also uses a spin move to get off of blocks. Tavarres’ 8.5 sacks led the team last season. He also had seven quarterback hurries.” (http://footballgameplan.com/2016-nflpa-bowl-player-spotlight-lb-myke-tavarres-incarnate-word).

He is everything you would want in a football player. My personal favorite aspect of his game is his passion. I can tell he really loves playing football. He reminds me of Brian Dawkins a little, because of his passion and of course his hits. I am not the only one who thinks that, here is another fan who thinks the same.
