Italian league star Gigi Datome has signed a 2 year, $3.5 million contract with the Detroit Pistons.
Earlier this month we promptly asked, “Who the hell is Gigi Datome?” after an international news report claimed the Celtics were one of the NBA teams interested in Datome’s services.
According to this Italian news report, the Celtics withdrew from consideration and Datome was left to chose between the Pistons and Grizzlies.
I’m sure he’s thrilled to play in the NBA, but it’s gotta suck to leave Rome for Detroit.
