Ginobili leads Argentina past Puerto Rico

MGAfter having a day off from the FIBA Americas tournament, San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili and Argentina returned to action on Friday night to defeat Puerto Rico 81 to 74. 

Ginobili led the way for Argentina in a close victory with 23 points, three assists, two rebounds, one steal, and even one block. Houston Rockets’ Luis Scola helped with his own 16 points and seven rebounds while Milwaukee Bucks’ Carlos Delfino added 14 points to the mix.

After returning from a minor injury last week, former Spur Fabricio Oberto saw some floor time as he scored two points and grabbed four rebounds in 12 minutes of play.

Puerto Rico was led by Carlos Arroyo’s 24 points and three assists. Dallas Mavericks’ J.J. Barea had 11 points and four assists for Puerto Rico.

Ginobili and Argentina will face Panama on Saturday in day five of the 2011 FIBA Americas tournament in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
