According to News4WOAI, San Antonio Spurs all-star guard Manu Ginobili will have surgery to repair the fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand, keeping him out at least six to eight weeks.
Giobili will undergo surgery tomorrow morning in a procedure (screws and a plate will be inserted into his hand) performed by Dr. Mark Bagg.
Ginobili suffered the injury in the second quarter of Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“Manu is pretty important to us and we lost him,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said told News4WOAI. “We’ll just have to deal with it.”
To offset the loss, the Spurs brought back Gary Neal after his short stint with the Austin Toros, and will likely heavily depend on James Anderson to play major minutes while Ginobili is out.
Paul Garcia has Anderson slotted in at the starting shooting guard position against the Golden State Warriors tonight.
