San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili has his insurance and is ready to get Argentina to the 2012 Olympic London games.
This team is a who’s who of some of the best Argentinian players ever to lace up a pair of sneakers. Aside from Ginobili, the team also sports Luis Scola, Fabricio Oberto, Carlos Delfino, and Andres Nocioni and Ginobili likes what he sees from this team:
“I have never been part of a team like this where everyone is fighting for the same goal with so much team-work,” he said.
“We are all proud to be a part of it, it is a great honor, a great pleasure to represent the country and unite together.
“There are players who are stars from their club teams who come here and leave their ego aside. That’s what I admire.
“To play with players of this quality makes eveything easier.”
Indeed Manu is right. This team may be older but the amount of experience, championship pedigree, and “team-first” mentality should make this team in the pre-Olympic tournament in Argentina a heavy favorite.
Ginobili also went on to talk about his former Spurs teammate, Oberto, health:
“I told him he must be patient, and listen to the doctors and follow them to the letter,” he said. “You have to see the positive and say it is better to discover something like this early.”
Spurs fans cannot be prouder of Manu wanting to play for his home country despite their concerns for him staying injury-free. He has poured his heart, soul and blood for San Antonio and now he will do the same for his home country.
Good luck Manu and Argentina!
