The Fighting Irish got some more good news on Monday, when Giovanni Bernard, a running back from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale Florida, made his verbal commitment to Notre Dame official.
Bernard is the 17th verbal commitment for the Fighting Irish and the second running back commitment for the 2010 incoming class.
When this class was starting to morph early this year, most people thought that ND would only take one running back in this class. That obviously is not the case and it looks like Notre Dame is really locking down some big time recruits after what was considered a “slow start” this summer.
Notre Dame continues to recruit the nations premier high school football program well, and is still in the hunt for Bernard’s teammates; Lamarcus Joyner and Brandon Linder. (Cody Riggs has dropped the Irish from consideration).
The Miami Herald ran a story on Bernard in the summer that highlighted the character of Giovanni Bernard.
