Girardi on Ice, Prust Not (Updated – Biron Gets the Start)

Update, 2:02p.m.:
Rookie Bradon Holtby will start in goal for the Caps tonight.

Update, 12:29 p.m.:
Torts reason for Biron tonight

“Marty is playing well, and there is no way Hank is going to play 5 in 7”

Prust is a game time decision

Update, 12:21 p.m.:
Girardi is out of the lineup tonight.

Update, 12:10 p.m.:
Prust says he’s good to play tonight. Just rested for morning skate.

…i’ll reiterate what Boyle said Saturday night: Prust = Warrior.

…wonder if Torts agrees with Prust’s assessment of his injury.

Update, 11:59 a.m.:
Jesse Spector is reporting that Marty Biron will get the start tonight in Washington.

…why in the world would Biron get the start against Caps, with Hank going tomorrow against the lesser Panthers? Got to question Torts use of goalies recently.

Update, 11:58 a.m.:
Jim Cerny wonders if Torts will dress seven defensemen to guard against Girardi not making it through the game.

While, Steve Zipay is saying Girardi may be out, a gametime decision or 7th defenseman.

Update, 11:52 a.m.:
Del Zotto skated on his own likely sitting if Girardi can’t go.

Update, 11:47 a.m.:
Looks like Prust is out and Girardi is in. Tonight’s lines:

Avery-Anisimov-Gaborik
Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello
Grachev-Boyle-Kolarik
Drury-Newbury-Dupont

Staal-Girardi
Gilroy-Sauer
McDonagh-Eminger

Update, 11:33 a.m.:
Michael Del Zotto is also on the ice, while Evgeny Grachev will again wear #91.

Girardi has two black eyes from the broken nose he received in his fight with Ladd on Saturday night and both Vinny Prospal and Ryan Callahan are skating in non-contact jerseys.

Original Post:
@thenyrangers says that Dan Girardi is on the ice for the morning skate, while Brandon Prust is not.

Jesse Spector reports that Derek Stepan has a cut under his eye.

…not sure if this means anything other than Girardi needs to test his injury, while Prust needs to rest his. Won’t know full lineup until much later.
