Glazers don’t need to fire Morris for Season Tickets, Bucs fans are behind the team

buccaneersYou see them all over the message boards and in the comments sections on the main Bucs sites; People hiding behind screen names calling for the head coaches job. It’s not the fact that they have an opinion that the coach must go, that’s perfectly fine and understandable, its the sheer hatred that MUST be racially motivated, that has people in the comfort of their homes with the security of a computer monitor in front of them, blasting Raheem Morris personally, and any writer who even remotely writes an objective article about the Bucs. They think the Glazers hear them, that they will determine what happens this offseason.

They are in for a surprise- It would be amazing if even as much as 2% of the commentors actually have season tickets. Most people at Raymond James Stadium are Bucs fans, real Bucs fans. You know, the kind who go to the games no matter what the record, no matter who the coach is, the kind that at any game feel the Bucs have a shot to win.

The Tampa Bay area was BORN into losing football, the first Bucs team lost their initial 26 games in a row, and the stadium was pretty full during that time. Think about it, it took 14 straight losing seasons to get the Bucs season ticket base down to 22,000! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers season ticket base is not where the Glazers want it, which would be where it was, the full stadium, and a waiting list, but it’s a healthy 30,000 + and the Glazers could care less if a few of them wont be back next year because Raheem Morris is the coach.

The real money being made in the NFL is the TV Contract, and this new one will make every football owner a millionaire many times over. Add to that the Glazers lucrative deal with Raymond James Stadium, and if only 20,000 people go to Bucs games, they will make a boat load of money each game. So threatening to pull back your season tickets will do absolutely nothing, especially if your among the many who threaten though you dont even have the season pass to begin with!

The only thing that is going to make the Glazers spend money is the desire to field a good football team, and the new CBA which forces teams to spend to a new higher floor in 2013. Hopefully the Bucs owners see that their plan to create a rediculously young team has failed to some extent, and some Free Agents are needed. But don’t expect the Glazers to resort to pressure, they never have, and they never will. If they don’t open up their pockets soon, there will be other ways to make a dent, but let’s hope it doesnt come to that, and the Glazer boys do the right thing and put some money into this restoration project.
