Glory Lightweight Championship: Robin van Roosmalen (c) (47-14-3) vs. Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong (110-29-5)
Luke Irwin: Ah, the rematch of the infamous “robbery” (not my words) of 2015. Yes, Sitsongpeenong clearly for the better of RVR last time, but RVR is not a dumb fighter, he can adjust and he’s always been more brains than brawn in the ring. I think Sittichai clearly took van Roosmalen by surprise last time, but RVR knows what to expect this time. van Roosmalen via UD.
Heavyweight Bout: Hesdy Gerges (49-15-1) vs. Ismael Londt (40-7-1)
Luke: Londt, who’s coming off of a Heavyweight Contender’s Tournament victory, came into Glory with a huge bang, and is barely two months removed from that. He has a ton of momentum, and while Gerges is nobody’s tune-up fight, he is beatable. I think Londt muddies the fight up a little, and takes an ugly one. Londt via UD.
Welterweight Contender Tournament Semifinal: Harut Grigorian (51-9) vs. Yoann Kongolo (61-7)
Luke: Great matchup, here. Harut’s brother Marat gets a lot more attention, but Harut has quietly put together a great string of wins and hasn’t lost since 2013. This will be his toughest test since then, but I’m going to roll the dice and say the lesser Grigorian is ready for a step up (to get destroyed in the finals). Grigorian via UD.
Welterweight Contender Tournament Semifinal: Karim Benmansour (46-5-1) vs. Murthel Groenhart (60-22-3)
Luke: Benmansour is a terrific fighter and one of the best in the division in the world…but I can’t pick against Groenhart. He’s Murthel Groenhart for god’s sakes. He may be on the downside of his career, but he’s not dead yet. Groenhart via R2 KO.
Welterweight Contender Tournament Final Winner: Murthel Groenhart
