“Godzilla” to Return to The Yankees

Sure he retired last December, but, according to the New York Post, that isn't stopping the New York Yankees from offering Hideki Matsui a contract.

I'll let you make all the Yankees jokes, but, honestly, the team inking the former slugger to a one-day deal so he can ceremoniously "retire" in pinstripes is actually pretty cool.

The two-time All-Star, and fan favorite, concluded his Major League career with a .282 batting average and 175 home runs spread out over ten seasons.  Combine that with his ten years with the Yomiuri Giants and you're looking at a .293 batting average, 2643 hits and an incredible 507 home runs.

Not too shabby.

Oh, and to top it all old…the Yankees have a Hideki Matsui Bobblehead Day planned for July 28 when the team concludes a three-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays.
