Terry Gannon to Make Golf Channel Debut

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 22, 2010) – Golf Channel returns to the Rochester area this week to deliver live, exclusive coverage of the LPGA’s second major of the year, the LPGA Championship.

Defending champion Anna Nordqvist will attempt to defend her title against a field headlined by new World No.1 Ai Miyazato, who overtook Jiyai Shin for the top spot following Miyazato’s victory at last week’s ShopRite LPGA Classic.  Shin, who had an emergency appendectomy two weeks ago, is scheduled to return to action this week. Paula Creamer, fresh off her seventh place finish last week after returning from a thumb injury, also is in the field, joining the likes of Michelle Wie, Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, two-time LPGA Championship winners Laura Davies and Juli Inkster and three-time winners Se Ri Pak and Nancy Lopez.

Golf Channel’s live coverage of the LPGA’s second major of the year will air Thursday-Friday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. ET, with weekend coverage from 4-7 p.m. ET. Terry Gannon will make his Golf Channel debut as play-by-play host of the telecast, joined by LPGA Hall-of-Famer Judy Rankin as lead analyst. Phil Parkin and LPGA veteran Kay Cockerill will call the action from on-course tower positions, with Val Skinner and Jane Crafter reporting from the course. Rich Lerner will serve as show host and will conduct post-round interviews.

Produced in high definition, Golf Channel’s tournament coverage is scheduled to feature its signature production elements, including mic’ing up a player during Thursday’s round and conducting on-course interviews with players as they are walking the fairways and making the turn.

We’re done with this post.
