Today it was announced by Head Coach John Tortorella that Cody Goloubef is set to return, which could be as soon as tomorrow, January 5th against the Minnesota Wild. This is welcoming news for a team looking for a boost on the blueline.
He has only played 16 games this season but he has five points this year as the backend has been bereft of scoring. He filled in admirably for James Wisniewski after he left and is a big right handed shot the team needs.
In other news today, Andrew Bodnarchuk was sent down to the Lake Erie Monsters and will have to clear waivers before reporting to the AHL. Bodnarchuk, a career AHLer scored his first points in the NHL this season.
While his game isn’t particularly noteworthy, he has been solid and played admirably when the team was facing a rash of injuries.
The team is back in action tomorrow and will be without the services of Sergei Bobrovsky and Curtis McElhinney. Look for either Joonas Korpisalo or Anton Forsberg to play tomorrow. Indication from John Tortorella is that Anton Forsberg will start tomorrow against the Wild.
