“We’re a team, fortunately, of players that are self-motivators and self-starters,” Gonzalez said Thursday after joining a player contingent that met with the NFL’s competition committee at the Westin Hotel. “I don’t see there ever being an issue where our guys would be out of shape or wouldn’t be prepared.

“If there’s something organized, I’m sure I’ll be at it. I fall back, from a Colts perspective, on the fact I believe in our guys . . . to prepare and to come in ready, whether the season starts Aug. 1 or Sept. 1.”
