Good Night For the Offense. Pitching Not So Much

It seems like every Red Sox game this season is like an episode of the TV show Lost; it brings up more questions than it answers.  If you were worried about the offense before this game, they gave you several reasons to be optimistic.   Scutaro, Pedroia, Youk, Tek and Beltre all had three hits in the game and the team scored 13 runs.  The defense was good too, no errors and nobody stole a base on the battery.  The pitching was another story.

Josh Beckett continued his slow start to the season by giving up eight earned runs in three innings.  His ERA has now balooned to 7.22.  Oki also struggled in the game and failed to get an out before Francona gave him the hook.

The Red Sox did find a way to keep scoring runs and found themselves with a one run lead in the bottom of the ninth when Papelbon came in.  Paps had his best relief appearance of the season and retired the Jays in order to put the 4+ hour game out of its misery.
