Goodbye No huddle

The Bills entered the season running the no-huddle offense as their base attack.Receiver Terrell Owens didn’t like it, but in the end he simply runs the plays that are called. Rosenthal recently pointed out that he doesn’t like it, either.

And now coach Dick Jauron has decided that he doesn’t like it, either.Per a league source, the no-huddle offense is being scuttled, and the team will be overhauling its attack going forward. (Profootballtalk.com)

Mind of Joe

Good riddance! Want to know why the no-huddle worked in the 90’s and not now? Jim Kelly was the QB, not Trentative Edwards. The offensive coordinator was Ted Marchibroda, not Turk or AVP. The offensive line were all-pros, not kids who couldn’t hold a candle to Will Wolfords or Jason Peters jock. Not to mention Edwards version wasn’t even the hurry up. What’s the point of not huddling, only to snap it was 10 seconds on the play clock.
At least Jauron realizes this now, because the defense is gassed and is giving up big chunks of yardage on the ground. And now the offensive line can clearly hear Edwards snap count in the huddle and maybe cut their false starts down to 2-3 a game.
