Grant Balfour, known for being very intense, took exception to Victor Martinez staring him down after fouling off a pitch. Is V-Mart supposed to stare at third base when preparing to hit the pitcher? Well, Balfour reacted by saying, "[why] the fuck you looking at me, bitch?" V-Mart isn't a little bitch, so he said, "Fuck you, bitch." It was basically a Swingers-styled "no, you're the bitch" shouting match before Balfour pulled out a gun took off his glove and challenged V-Mart to a dance with fisticuffs. Benches cleared and order was ultimately restored after some warnings were dished out.
As my man Isaac pointed out, it's sadly the only fight the Tigers have shown all series. They trail 2-1 and are on the proverbial ropes — will they fight back?
