Today’s matchup rounds out the top four seeds in the tournament and features two types of three-pointers. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce have hit a ton of threes during the New Big Three Era, some clutch and others were to reach milestones. Last season Ray Allen surpassed Reggie Miller with a three vs the LA Lakers to become the NBA’s all-time leader in threes made. This season Pierce used a 3-ball to surpass Larry Bird into second place on the Celtics’ all-time scoring list. Check out below for more details of the matchup.
#4 Seed – Ray Allen’s Clutch Three Ties Game 2 @ Miami: After dropping Game 1 in Miami, Rajon Rondo had perhaps the greatest playoff game of his career, scoring a career high 44 points. The Celtics lead most of the game and threatened to steal home court advantage away from Miami. The Heat came roaring back and took a late lead and even got Paul Pierce to foul out. But it was a clutch three-pointer by Ray that tied the game, eventually sending it to OT where they would lose a heartbreaker. Nobody knew it at the time, but this was Ray Allen’s final clutch three as a Boston Celtic and at the time, was the biggest shot of the season.

Seed #29 – Paul Pierce Surpasses Larry Bird on the Celtics’ All-Time Scoring List: Sometimes a three pointer is anything but routine. In what was a random game between the Celtics and Charlotte Bobcats at the Garden, Pierce made it quite memorable. I included a long montage dedicated to Pierce surpassing Larry Bird, but it’s the three that allowed him to do it. Enjoy the clip and enjoy Pierce as long as he’s wearing green.
