The madness marches on as we move down the brackets towards the top 10. Brandon Bass is featured in both plays of today’s edition, but for two different reasons. Bass had a fantastic first year with the Celtics, excelling in the spot left by Glen Davis, whom he was traded for. While Bass provided C’s fans with several explosive two-handed mini-Shaq-like dunks, none were more impressive (and at the time, more important) than the 6th seed of our tournament. Bass also quickly became a favorite target for Rajon Rondo (then again, who doesn’t?) finishing off several of Rondo’s beautiful passes.
Seed #6 – Bass Poterizes Wade (Game 7 2012 ECF): Capping off a monster first half during Game 7 of the ECF with 14 points, Bass stepped into Wade’s lazy passing lane and tipped a steal to himself on the break. With only Wade retreating on defense, Bass attacked him and posterized him with ferocity. It gave the C’s an eleven point lead which was huge at the time, but like many big leads in deciding games, they just couldn’t hold. But in real time, when this play happened, it was nothing short of being an EFF-YOU moment to Miami. In Game 7, these plays resonate just a tick louder.

Seed #27 – Rondo’s Around-the-Back Pass to Bass @ Milwaukee: The Celtics were winding down their season long 8-game road trip and trying to stave off Milwaukee’s fight for playoff seeding. At the time, this win by the C’s ended a red-hot Bucks team winning streak and essentially eliminated them from the playoffs. It also got them to within a half game of the Atlantic Division lead with the Sixers on deck the next night. This beautiful pass by Rondo highlighted a solid road win for the Celtics.
