GreenLight Madness: Celtics Top 64 Plays (#32 Seed vs #33 Seed)

It’s the final matchup in the first round of all 64 seeds of the tournament and it features plays from Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett during the Heat series.  While that series elicits more painful memories than good ones, there were and handful to choose from.  Dwayne Wade’s takedown of Rondo and ensuing elbow dislocation is legendary by now, so the following play is even more impressive.

Seed #32: Rondo One Armed Catch and Twirl Lay-up – It’s roughly halfway through the second quarter and the Celtics are holding on to a slim lead.  Rondo brings the ball up the court and flicks a pass to Ray Allen who gets into the triple-threat position behind the left-wing three-point line.  Rondo cuts to the post on the right side, and Ray lobs a pass to him.  Rondo then catches the ball with one arm, spins away from the defenders and lays it up and in with the same one arm.

Seed #33: KG Dunk and Blocks, Game 1 vs Miami – With about two and a half minutes remaining in Game 1 against Miami, the Celtics are down by 12 and are attempting one last gasp of a comeback.  They force a turnover and KG runs the floor as if they are in a tied game and Rondo passes it ahead to Jeff Green who quickly tap-passes it to Garnett for the loud slam.  Then, with the C’s trailing by 10, KG executes a couple of Bill Russell-esque blocks: first on Chris Bosh, then on Mario Chalmers.
