The Greg Oden decision is over, he has decided to sign a two year deal with the NBA champions the Miami Heat.
Greg Oden made his decision today, and the former Buckeye and Trail Blazer has decided to join the Miami Heat on a two year deal with a player option for a third year. The allure of joining the two time world champions was surely too much to pass up, as the Pelicans, Kings, and Hawks were the teams turned down by Oden. In his two years of play since being drafted first overall in 2007 ahead of superstar Kevin Durant, he’s averaged 9.3 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 1.4 BPG.
When asked about his current condition, Oden said “I’m not going to sit here and say I’m 100 percent. I am moving (well) and I am feeling good, but I have a lot of work to do.” The Heat are said to be prepared to wait until the second half of the season to see Oden on the court, but if he can play as he has so far in the league, the Heat have a legitimate starting center for sure. And if he was able to live up to all the potential he had coming out of college, well, the league had better be on notice: the Heat aren’t going to be beat.
