Without getting into the “why” and the “how”…we all know that Pete Rose is serving a lifetime ban from Major League Baseball, right?
For nearly three years, Don Knepper and his group of Rose supporters have made it their mission to try and get baseball’s hit king reinstated through their grassroots internet venture Lift the Ban. Now, they weren’t doing this through some online petition, mind you, their plan was to spread the word through t-shirts, bumper stickers, signage at baseball games…seemingly getting the message out however they could.
And it appeared to be working. Until Monday.
Folks, I am sorry to announce that Lift the Ban is no more. Pete Rose has demanded that we stop.

Say what?
According to the organization’s Twitter, Rose’s agent, Charles Sotto, ordered the site to stop.
“We promoted Pete Rose better than Pete,” Knepper, Lift the Ban’s leader, said via Twitter. “It might be that Pete Rose at this point in time no longer wants to be reinstated. He might want to be an outlaw.”
So is Knepper right…is Rose so much an outlaw that, regardless how many times he publicly states otherwise, doesn’t wish to be reinstated? Perhaps the Rose Camp knows something we don’t and they’re trying to save folks supporting the cause the time and effort?
Or is it all about something simpler? Money.
Stay tuned.
