One night after I told them I had their back, the Tigers fell flat in a big game against the Chicago White Sox. The Tigers lost 4-1 despite out-hitting the Sox 10-9.
Former Tiger Edwin Jackson held the Tigers scoreless through 7 innings, but was charged with the Tigers’ lone run when J.J. Putz allowed Miguel Cabrera to score on a Brandon Inge single. The Tigers were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 guys on base.
TRIPLE CROWN WATCH
Paul Konerko proved to be extra annoying, hitting his 27th home run of the season. This put him ahead of Miguel Cabrera (who has 26), knocking Miggy back to 3rd in the AL in that category. Cabrera is still first in RBI and 2nd in batting average, behind Texas’ Josh Hamilton.
LOOKS AT THE ROOKS
Austin Jackson continues to be a boss, going 2-for-5 tonight. His batting average is up to .312 on the year.
N00b Will Rhymes was 1-for-5. He’s hitting .250 in his short (pun intended) stint in the majors.
Brennan Boesch continues to suck something awful. He’s hitting under .100 since the All-Star Break. He was 0-for-3 tonight with 2 K’s.
Tomorrow’s game is at 1:05, so start your drinking early.
