- The Story: Jon Heyman reports that John Lackey is going to ask for “A.J. Burnett money.” The Monkey Says: His stellar playoff start should ensure that he gets it too. The odds of Lackey coming back to the Angels continues to grow more and more unlikely.
- The Story: Bobby Abreu doesn’t “want to go nowhere else.” The Monkey Says: And I am sure the feeling is mutual. Let’s hope this desire to stay in Anaheim also means Bobby is willing to cut the team a discount.
- The Story: Two female Red Sox fans and their male fans had a “nightmare” experience at Angel Stadium during the ALDS. The Monkey Says: Those poor girls. Who could ever imagine that an opposing fan might get insulted at the opponent’s stadium during the playoffs? I am sure this kind of thing NEVER happens at Fenway. Or they could just be a bunch of whiners. Either way.
- The Story: Jeff and Jered Weaver became the second set of siblings to both earn wins in the same post-season. The Monkey Says: Hooray for meaningless trivia!
- The Story: Erick Aybar has been the Angels most improved player. The Monkey Says: Kendry Morales might have something to say about that, but there is no denying that Aybar made himself an integral part of the roster throughout the course of the season.
- The Story: Darren Oliver went from nearly retiring in 2005 to Mike Scioscia’s most trusted relief arm this year. The Monkey Says: Now the question is if Oliver will come back again next year or ride off into the sunset.
- The Story: The Red Sox tried to get some help from post-seasons past by having Dave Henderson throw out the first pitch before Game 3. The Monkey Says: Kind of a dick move by the Sox, but it definitely backfired as plenty of Angels were pretty pissed off at the move and we all know how the game ended.
- The Story: Boston players were all gracious in congratulating the Angels on the sweep. The Monkey Says: Darn. I really wanted them to be total assholes, I am not sure I am done hating them just yet.
- The Story: Arte Moreno loved getting to celebrate the ALDS victory with the team. The Monkey Says: For all of the blood, sweat and tears Arte has put into this franchise since purchasing them, it is great to see him enjoy some post-season success. If there is one owner that deserves a World Series title, it is Moreno.
- The Story: Vladimir Guerrero and Brian Fuentes both redeemed themselves in the game 3 victory. The Monkey Says: No two players have caught more flack from the fans and media this year, so coming through in the clutch has to be a huge relief to both and will hopefully boost their confidence the rest of the playoffs.
- The Story: The schedule for the Angels-Yankees ALCS has been released. The Monkey Says: The series starts this Friday but game times are tentative right now. Also, the games will be on Fox instead of TBS which is like finding out you no longer have lung cancer but instead now have brain cancer.
- The Story: Halos Heaven wastes no time in breaking down the upcoming Angels-Yankees series. The Monkey Says: Even with a Halo homer angle fully employed in this piece, it is clear that this will be a tight series from start to end.
- The Story: The common sentiment amongst BoSox fans after losing the ALDS: you Angels better beat the Yankees. The Monkey Says: I can vouch for this one, I used to live on the East Coast and have a lot of BoSox friends (unfortunately) and to a man they all called or texted me that the Halos better beat the Yanks or they will beat me.
