The Monkey Says: Saunders might get bumped from Game 4 depending on the numbers of day off in the ALDS schedule. This means Ervin Santana will work out of the pen in the playoffs, so don’t be surprised to see him get the call in relief sometimes this weekend as a dry run of sorts.
- The Story: AngelsWin.com was recently hoaxed in a fake Jordan Walden interview. The Monkey Says: The site thought they were talking to Walden, but apparently they weren’t as his Facebook page had been hacked somehow.
- The Story: Bobby Abreu reminds Torii Hunter of Paul Molitor. The Monkey Says: Molitor mentored Hunter and he now seen Abreu doing a lot of the same things now with the Angel youngsters.
- The Story: The Angels set a new franchise record for runs in a season in their win last night. The Monkey Says: Further proof that offense shouldn’t be the Angels Achilles heel (finally) in the playoffs.
- The Story: Trevor Bell escaped being hit by a broken bat with just a bruise. The Monkey Says: The Angels then added insult to injury, literally, by forcing the rookies, Bell included, to dress in goofy costumes for the fan rally after last night’s game.
- The Story: The Angels voted to give Nick Adenhart’s family a full share of the playoff bonuses. The Monkey Says: Just another charitable act by the Angels in honor of their fallen teammate.
- The Story: The Angels announced their minor league awards yesterday. The Monkey Says: Alex Amarista (Single-A Cedar Rapids) won hitter of the year, Trevor Reckling (Double-A Arkansas) was pitcher of the year and Peter Bourjos (Double-A Arkansas) was defender of the year.
- The Story: Steve Bisheff thinks the ALDS will come down to whichever team wins the on-base duel. The Monkey Says: I am going to take it one further and suggest that the Angels will need to actually capitalize on getting runners on, which they have not done the last few post-seasons.
