The Monkey Says: That award isn’t as cool as it sounds since Fernie more or less washed out at Triple-A last season and didn’t have much success in his brief audition in the majors. He certainly seems to have good stuff, but he is going to have to find a way to control it if he is going to make the big league team out of Spring Training.
- The Story: Anyone who wants to bash the Angels for being cheap this off-season should take a look at the deals that Jason Bay and Matt Holliday are going to get. The Monkey Says: Oh, and all the people faulting the Angels for not signing Jason Bay can cram it. He isn’t a guy that fits the Angels’ style or budgetary constraints. Frankly, it wouldn’t be a shock if the Mets soon come to regret signing him to the big deal they just awarded him.
