- The Story: X-rays were inconclusive on Bobby Wilson’s ankle. The Monkey Says: This actually isn’t a good sign because the issue is that his ankle is too swollen still. Wilson still has a concussion, so he is definitely out for a fair amount of time.
- The Story: Wilson doesn’t remember getting hit. The Monkey Says: Nor does Bobby have any hard feelings about the play, but how could he if he doesn’t remember it?
- The Story: Torii Hunter thinks Teixeira was on a mission. The Monkey Says: I don’t know about that. I think Mark Teixeira is too much of a pussy to ever intentionally try and hurt someone else.
- The Story: Angels keep the faith in Brandon Wood. The Monkey Says: That faith might finally be paying off if his big double on Sunday is any indication, but one hit isn’t going to solve everything for Wood. In fact, if he can’t get going after that confidence-boosting hit, the Halos might have to bench him for a little bit (or longer, much longer).
- The Story: Jason Bulger is better than his numbers. The Monkey Says: Yes, he definitely is, but he is also being used wrong, so his bad outings have turned into downright massacres. Scioscia just needs to commit to using him to start innings rather than as a mid-inning rescue artist (a role that should go to Kevin Jepsen instead).
- The Story: Mike Napoli is confident his swing will come along. The Monkey Says: Napoli has always been a streaky hitter and barely playing the first two weeks of the season is a poor way of getting him off to a hot start. Now that he will be playing almost everyday, he should heat up in no time.
- The Story: The Angels will need a trade or two to be contenders. The Monkey Says: Replacing Brandon Wood or Scot Shields might prove necessary, but only twenty games into the season, the Halos have time to see if either of them can’t become the players that the Angels expected them to be.
- The Story: Jim Bowden thinks the Matsui, Pineiro and Rodney signings were some of the best of the off-season. The Monkey Says: They most certainly look good thus far, but we should also note that Bowden also thought it was a good idea to embezzle money from poor Latin players.
