- The Story: Bobby Abreu was a late scratch yesterday because of a stiff back. The Monkey Says: This shouldn’t be of any concern. I suspect Bobby was benched as a precautionary measure so that he didn’t have to play the game on potentially wet and slippery grass.
- The Story: The Angels activated Bobby Wilson from the disabled list. The Monkey Says: Ryan Budde was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Bobby who will hold down the fort as back-up backstop until Jeff Mathis heals up or until he gets run over again.
- The Story: Mike Scioscia is not concerned about the standings. The Monkey Says: It has always been the way of the Sosh to take things one game at a time and to focus only the Angels and not the competition. Besides, tracking the standings constantly this early in the season is only going to drive you crazy.
- The Story: This is the Angel rotation they were hoping for. The Monkey Says: Those stats are all prior to Kazmir’s start yesterday. Now just try to ignore the point the article makes about how this surge by the starting pitching has come against generally pathetic line-ups.
- The Story: How much do the Angels miss John Lackey and Chone Figgins. The Monkey Says: Since Pineiro has actually been much better than his win-loss record indicates, I think that trade between him and Lackey is a big win for the Halos. As for Figgy, he has been terrible in Seattle, but I am certain he would be tearing it up if he were still an Angel, sparking the line-up and saving us from having to watch Brandon Wood flail away at the plate every night.
- The Story: Some Q & A with Victor Rojas. The Monkey Says: The best part to me is how he talks about having a similar personality to Mark Gubicza which he considers a positive, whereas I actually think that is one of the problems with the Angel broadcast now since they do have similar personalities and neither is exactly Mr. Charm and Charisma.
