Halo Headlines – 5/6/10

  • The Story: The Angels are not going to panic over their slump.   The Monkey Says: Tony Reagins basically is saying that we shouldn’t expect any trades or any minor league promotions.  I still think the Halos need some kind of wake up call, perhaps in the form of demoting Joe Saunders or benching any of the struggling Halo hitters, perhaps Juan Rivera.
  • The Story: The bomb threat that nearly delayed last night’s Angel game was a hoax.   The Monkey Says: Too bad, the Angels clearly could have used the night off rather than allowing themselves to get shown up by the Red Sox and John Lackey.
  • The Story: Juan Rivera did not play Wednesday after misplaying a ball in the field on Tuesday.   The Monkey Says: The Angel coaches won’t admit it, but Juan definitely seemed to be getting punished for failing to make that play.  He’ll probably be back in the line-up today, but his often lackadaisical play in the field isn’t going to stand for much longer if he continues to not produce at the plate.
  • The Story: Mike Napoli is making progress at the plate.   The Monkey Says: Naps is starting to get hot with the bat, but I think we all knew he would.  The real question will always be whether or not he can get his defense improved enough to keep the starting job once Jeff Mathis returns from his broken wrist.
  • The Story: The Angels get some fresh meat.   The Monkey Says: Yup, things are so bad for the Angels right now that them adding some sausages to their concession offerings is actually newsworthy.  Shoot me now.
