- The Story: The Angels are turning their attention towards acquiring Cliff Lee, dangling Howie Kendrick in return. The Monkey Says: I hope this is true, because I would much rather give up Howie than Aybar. Plus, Lee should be cheaper the Halladay, especially since more teams are focusing on getting Halladay than Lee right now. The Angels still shouldn’t overpay, but Lee would be a great addition.
- The Story: The Angels interest in Roy Halladay is cooling in large part due to refusal to part with Erick Aybar. The Monkey Says: Again, fine by me. Let someone else gut their team to get Halladay. Until Toronto lowers their demands, I don’t see Doc getting moved until this winter.
- The Story: Forget about trade rumors, the Angels need to make sure Chone Figgins doesn’t get away in free agency this summer. The Monkey Says: Couldn’t say it better myself. Figgy makes the Angel offense go and Mike Scioscia knows it and he’ll make sure that Reagins knows it too.
- The Story: In case you hadn’t noticed, Howie Kendrick is hitting again since being recalled. The Monkey Says: PUFF PIECE ALERT! What a shock that this piece of pro-Kendrick propaganda comes out right when the team is trying to include Kendrick in a major trade. I am sure that’s just a coincidence.
- The Story: Rob Neyer looks at how the Angels are winning and doesn’t seem too convinced that their sudden offensive dominance is really a fluke. The Monkey Says: What? ESPN knows that their is another Los Angeles baseball team besides the LA Manny’s? Gee, how nice of them to throw the Angels a bone… sort of. At least Neyer didn’t refer to the Angels as the “Anaheim Angels” like Jayson Stark did the other day.
