- The Angels have two All-Stars on the American League squad: Torii Hunter and Brian Fuentes. Congrats to both players, especially Torii who fully deserves to be starting the game instead of Josh Hamilton.
- Chone Figgins could join Hunter and Fuentes if the fans make it so. Though making the All-Star game is only going to make Figgins even harder to re-sign this off-season, we must vote up Figgy and get him into the game because he definitely deserves it.
- Did Jered Weaver get snubbed from the All-Star game? A case could certainly be made, but the rules of the All-Star selections always lead to snubs and Weaver might have snubbed himself with his performances the last two weeks.
- Vladimir Guerrero is starting to look better at the plate and was even allowed to play the field for the first time yesterday.
- Howie Kendrick got called back up to the big leagues over the weekend, but the travel gods apparently didn’t agree with the decision and tried to keep him away for the Angels.
- PUFF PIECE ALERT: Unexpectedly thrust into the role of set-up man, Darren Oliver has also taken on the role of being the leader of the bullpen.
- LA Times blogger Steve Bisheff provides a preview of what to look for in the second half of the Angels’ season and somehow still finds a way to slip in a call out to promote Brandon Wood. Well done, Steve.
