- INJURY UPDATE: Torii Hunter and Vlad Guerrero both underwent MRIs yesterday and the news is that Hunter has a strained abductor muscle, but no groin tear which is good news but doesn’t rule out a DL stint. No news yet on Vlad’s results.
- The Blue Jays released B.J. Ryan yesterday. The former closer hasn’t been the same since hurting his arm a few seasons ago and is fastball has lost its zip, but the Angels could do a lot worse than take a flier on him as a potential middle reliever or lefty-specialist.
- Steve Bisheff thinks the Halladay sweepstakes will eventually boil down to the Phillies and Angels and has an idea of what he thinks the Halos should offer for Doc.
- Torii Hunter’s injury has forced him to decline his invite to the Home Run Derby, which is probably a blessing in disguise with the way the derby has messed up the swing of past contestants. It also is possible Hunter will have to sit out the All-Star Game as well.
- Chone Figgins is still in third place for the final AL All-Star roster spot, but the voting is close, so VOTE NOW!
