- The Story: Tony Reagins is not inclined to act on any of the recently released veteran pitchers and also downplayed reports that he was going after Heath Bell again. The Monkey Says: Don’t be too disappointed in Reagins’ statements as he has never been one to tip his hand to the press, but don’t go holding your breath for a big Angel signing or trade in the near future either.
- The Story: Halos Heaven examines the Angels “hit efficiency” and how it stacks up to the rest of the American League. The Monkey Says: The main conclusion here is that power is not the end all be all of run production and the Angels are doing quite well despite having less power than teams like the Yankees.
- The Story: Torii Hunter is glad that the Rangers are giving the Halos a run for their money in the AL West. The Monkey Says: Torii thinks the pressure will keep the Angels’ focused and hopefully avoid another playoff disappointment like last year after they cruised to the division title.
- The Story: Mike Scioscia stated that Sean O’Sullivan will remain in the rotation until Joe Saunders returns from the disabled list. The Monkey Says: Sosh stops noticeably short of spilling the beans on his plans for the fifth starter spot once Saunders does return though, so O’Sullivan is going to have to turn things around if he doesn’t want to get demoted.
- The Story: Vladimir Guerrero refutes the idea that being in a contract year is the reason for his resurgence. The Monkey Says: I didn’t realize anyone thought that. In all his years as an Angel, I have never seen a shred of evidence that Vladi is even remotely influenced by money when it comes to his performance on the field.
- AL West Update: The Rangers defeated the Twins last night to keep pace with the Angels. The Monkey Says: The Angels’ lead remains at 4.5 games.
