- The Story: Maicer Izturis is coming into his own. The Monkey Says: Izzy may not field like his brother, but he isn’t exactly a slouch either and he has turned into a very nice offensive player. It should be interesting to see what the Angels do with him and Howie this off-season.
- The Story: Halos Heaven presents a checklist of what the Angels need to do to guarantee a post-season berth. The Monkey Says: Most of them are pretty self-explanatory, but the point about stopping the Morales-Quinlan platoon can’t possibly be echoed enough.
- The Story: Trevor Reckling will pitch for Team USA in the upcoming IBAF World Cup. The Monkey Says: Training for the tournament begins in just a few weeks, so that should preclude the Angels from calling Reckling up next month.
- The Story: A call goes out to get Bill Rigney into the Angel Hall of Fame. The Monkey Says: If you don’t know, Bill Rigney was the Angels’ first manager. Seeing how the Angel Hall of Fame isn’t exactly as strict as Cooperstown, I see no reason to keep him out, but at the same time, I don’t get the venom over him being excluded either.
- AL West Update: The Texas Rangers defeated the Yankees 7-2 yesterday. The Monkey Says: The AL West lead for LAA is down to four again. The Rangers will remain on the road and head to Minnesota for the weekend.
