- The Story: Gary Matthews is feeling a bit vindicated about his recent contributions to the team. The Monkey Says: I’m feeling good about it too because it might make Private Matthews actually tradeable come this off-season.
- The Story: FanGraphs rates Juan Rivera and Bobby Abreu as two of the five best free agent signings from this last off-season. The Monkey Says: It really can’t get mentioned enough about what a great job Tony Reagins did in landing Abreu and Rivera for such cheap deals, especially after the painful scorning by Mark Teixeira. Smart moves like that really should buy him the benefit of the doubt on his decision not to make a deal at the deadline.
- The Story: The Angel clubhouse is feeling good just to have Vladimir Guerrero back in the line-up. The Monkey Says: Him homering in his second game back no doubt helped boost that excitement. If Vladi starts mashing like the Guerrero of old, this line-up might be totally unstoppable.
- The Story: Bobby Abreu hit is 250th career home run, making him only the sixth player in history to record 250 homers, 2000 hits, 1000 runs, 1000 walks and 300 steals. The Monkey Says: Abreu has quietly had an excellent MLB career and might very well be a Hall of Fame candidate when it is all said and done. If he can keep up his torrid pace and win the MVP, he could very well secure his HOF bid.
