The May 4, 2016 edition of Los Angeles Angels news includes Garrett Richards still reeling from the effects of his Sunday start, Cam Bedrosian finding early success in his return to the bullpen, and more…

The Story: Angels not ready to clear Garrett Richards for Friday start

MWAH Says: The official reason Richards left his last start early was dehydration, but the Angels appear worried that it might be something more. Richards will not throw his mid-week bullpen today and could very well get passed over on Friday even though he hasn’t been diagnosed with anything new. The extra caution is absolutely warranted given the current state of the rotation and how much more susceptible to injury bodies are when dehydrated. Let’s hope going the cautious route pays off.

The Story: Cam Bedrosian showing ‘electric’ stuff this time up with Angels

MWAH Says: Bedrosian’s struck out 7 of the 11 batters he’s faced since being recalled when Huston Street went on the DL last week. I’m eternally hopeful that Bedrosian will figure things out and become the pitcher everyone wished he’d be two years ago, but it’s going to take a much larger sample size to prove he’s truly arrived.

The Story: Huston Street’s recovery timetable remains undetermined

MWAH Says: Street’s first week on the DL was spent resting so that his body could work on healing his strained oblique. Once he starts testing its strength in drills and exercises next week, then the club can get a bearing on the severity of the injury. I’d be surprised if he’s back before the second week of June.

The Story: Game an escape as Shane Robinson cares for sick daughter

MWAH Says: Robinson calls the game his “escape”, but I imagine it feels a lot more like hell at times. Definitely rooting for Shane and his family.

The Story: MLB close to canceling Puerto Rico trip due to Zika virus concerns

MWAH Says: This is a bad situation all around.
