The December 7, 2015 edition of Los Angeles Angels news includes the beginning of what’s sure to be a crazy week in the Music City, a young reliever garnering some trade interest, and more…

The Story: Angels hit Winter Meetings with several needs on shopping list

MWAH Says: Mike DiGiovanna lays out a Winter Meetings primer much like the one Andrew wrote over the weekend. Of note in Mike’s article: The team is apparently open to reuniting with Howie Kendrick. Alden Gonzalez wrote a similar article at MLB.com, noting that Neil Walker could be an interesting trade option.

The Story: Trevor Gott drawing trade interest around the league

MWAH Says: Ken Rosenthal notes that the Angels would want “similar MLB value in return” for Gott. Not sure what that means. They want a guy with one pitch and limited experience in return? That’d be a terrible deal. If you ask me, Gott could make for a big chunk a deal to bring Trevor Plouffe into the fray. The Twins are looking for relief help and have like five corner infielders, so it’s not unreasonable.

The Story: Who wins the WAR at the Winter Meetings?

MWAH Says: Are teams who spend big at the meetings better off than those who do most of their shopping before or after? Pedro Moura dives into the numbers to find out. I won’t spoil it for you.

The Story: Billy Eppler gets “defensive” about his early moves

MWAH Says: Hat tip to Jeff Fletcher for the headline pun. Eppler’s early additions of Andrelton Simmons, Cliff Pennington, and Geovany Soto do seem to indicate a defense-first mentality, but there’s still a lot of offseason to go. I imagine offense will be the priority in Nashville this week.

The Story: Angels scouting coordinator joins Dodgers front office

MWAH Says: Jeremy Zoll was one of the few people in the Angels front office to NOT get a promotion late last month. I wonder if that’s because they knew he’d likely be moving up to LA, or if that’s what made him open to a move. Anyway, he’s another one of those twentysomethings on the fast track to a GM position. He’ll be the Dodgers’ senior manager of player development.
