San Antonio Spurs draft pick Adam Hanga and Hungary have gone 0-4 in the EuroBasket qualifier and will not be playing in EuroBasket 2011.
Hungary lost 65-87 to Finland. Finland lead throughout the game, but Hungary got within five points, 39-44 at the half.
“We didn’t have any pressure coming in and we were ready to play a good game and have fun. I think we started the game alright and continued to play well, but Finland’s rebounding and three point shooting were the keys to win this game. It’s hard for us. We were supposed to qualify to EuroBasket. We have a good team and good players, and I’m not sure why this happened. Perhaps we hadn’t played together enough before these qualifications. We have to practice hard and hopefully we will give it another shot for EuroBasket 2013.”
Hanga finished with eight points on 44 percent shooting from the field, two assists, two rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes.
Hungary has now been eliminated and will not be playing in EuroBasket in Lithuania on August 31.
