Hank, Rupp & Erixon Talk Offseason & Team

Blueshirts United was able to catch-up with Henrik Lundqvist and discuss the Rangers season opening trip to his homeland Sweden…

“I want it to be a great experience for everybody. It’s fun to show them where I come from, and I feel a certain responsibility for them to have that great experience. We should all share in this.”

…let’s hope Hank is more concerned with winning than dinner plans come October 7th. And I have no doubt he will.

Meanwhile, Mike Rupp discusses why he attended this week’s informal practices before heading back to his Ohio home for the Labor Day weekend…

“Anytime you can get familiarity with anything, it makes things easier. So coming in here meeting the guys, working out, and learning how not to get lost in all the rooms (of the MSG Training Center) is important. And by coming in early you start forming a bond with the guys, creating a team atmosphere working hard together. And the amount of guys that have shown up to work already shows that the players here are accountable, and that’s a good thing.”

…very excited to see such a large turnout at informals this week. Shows dedication of this team already.

In a talk with Steve Zipay at Blue Notes, Tim Erixon says that he is feeling much better now than when he participated in prospect camp earlier this summer…

“I’m feeling good, better than the last time I was here. The autographs and all that were fun, but now I’m looking forward to camp and making the team.”

…been very impressed with what I’m hearing from the rookies so far this off-season. Each one of them has said they are coming to camp to make the team. Players such as Avery, Christensen and Wolski better come to camp prepared or they’re going to find themselves wearing a CT Whale jersey.

Finally, Andrew Gross of Rangers Rants has some observations from the informal practices including Ryan Callahan being the organizer and clear on-ice leader, while Brandon Dubinsky has taken Vinny Prospal’s role in over-celebrating practice goals.

Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh now have adjoining stalls in the dressing room.
