J.J Hardy fans in attendance Sunday were rewarded twice–first with a J.J. bobblehead, and then Hardy driving in Rickie Weeks with the winning run in the 12th to give the Brewers a 4-3 win and a sweep.
The Brewers remain 4½ back of the Cubs for first in the NL Central.
CC Sabathia got the start, but did not earn a win, despite allowing only one earned run over 6 IP. Despite pounding Bucs’ starter Paul Maholm for 12 hits over 6 IP, the offense didn’t score until the 6th inning after Mike Cameron drove in Corey Hart, followed by Gabe Kapler singling in Billy Hall. After the Bucs tied it up at 2-2 off of reliever David Riske, Cameron appeared to have won it with a solo shot in the 8th. But Salomon Torres allowed the tying run to score, giving fans a scare before Hardy drove in Weeks in the 12th.
Guillermo Mota earned the win, his 4th of the year.
The Crew gets a day off before heading to St. Louis.
