Hart to Giants Rumors “Resurrected”

July 07, 2010- Milwaukee, WI. Miller Park..Milwaukee Brewers Corey Hart is tagged at the plate by giants catcher Eli Whiteside, from a good throw from Pablo Sandoval..Milwaukee Brewers lost to the San Francisco Giants 2-15..Mike McGinnis / CSM.

3:05 PM: While deals can continue to be announced after the deadline, it doesn’t look like we can look forward to any Brewers news.  In the end, I think I’m okay with this.  I’d rather keep a guy like Hart instead of dealing him for a short-term fix like Sanchez, especially since I feel like Sanchez would be a disaster in front of this Brewers defense and inside Miller Park.  It doesn’t even look like we’ll have any news about guys like Jim Edmonds, but the August trading period is typically where you see guys like him moved, so I get the feeling we haven’t heard the last of those rumors.  In both cases, it might benefit the Brewers to have both prove that they’re healthy.

2:59 PM: Jon Morosi of Fox Sports confirms that the Brewers aren’t going to be dealing.

2:55 PM: Five minutes until the deadline, and Gord Ash tells Tom Haudricourt that there will be no deals.  Bit of a bummer after the last half hour.

2:51 PM: Was Jonathan Sanchez getting goodbye hugs in the Giants dugout?  Schulman says as of 5 minutes ago, Sanchez is still a Giant.

2:42 PM: Jerry Crasnick chimes and says the Giants aren’t expected to do anything major. Places the odds at “5-10%” that they add an impact bat. You’d think Hart would be considered impact for them.

2:38 PM: Tonight’s lineup is out, and Corey Hart is batting second. Obviously, if that changes, things get exciting.

2:28 PM: And here I thought this would be a rather dull day when it comes to Brewers news.  A half hour before the non-waiver trade deadline, Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle fired off this tweet:

Just heard Corey Hart to Giants might be resurrected at the last minute. J. Bautista/Kelly Johnson/S. Downs also in play.

Well, then.  Looks like things are about to get pretty interesting.  I’ll keep updating this post as more information becomes available, but speculate away.  What would the Brewers get in return?  Something we haven’t heard before, or are the Giants finally caving on the Jonathan Sanchez demand?
