When you looked at this on paper today, you knew both Cliff Lee and Matt Harvey might both throw gems. Today, Harvey showed why he is one of the best in the National League as the Mets took two out of three from the Phillies, with a 5-0 win at Citi Field on Sunday.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Mets started the scoring.  David Wright took a 1-2 pitch, and hit a screaming line drive home run over the wall in left center for his 15th of the year, and that made the score, 1-0.

Then, the next batter, Marlon Byrd, took a full count fastball, and hit a LONG home run into the upper deck in left field for his 17th home run of the season, and that gave New York a 2-0 lead. In his last two starts, Lee has given up three back-to-back home runs.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Mets blew the game open, as Wright and Josh Satin both singled, then on a 1-2 pitch with two outs, center fielder Juan Lagares hit a three-run home run just over the wall in left center, after review, for his 2nd of the year, and making it 5-0.

The story of the day was Harvey, who threw 112 pitches-75 strikes, and allowed only three hits in seven innings. He struck out 10 batters, including Domonic Brown three times, and didn’t walk a batter. Harvey’s win makes him 8-2 on the season.

Lee, who dropped to 10-4, pitched six innings and threw 99 pitches-72 strikes, but allowed seven hits and 5 runs, including the three home runs. He struck out six and walked one.

Philadelphia, will next fly to St. Louis for a three game series with the Cardinals.
