Since Sasha Banks has come on to the scene, it hasn’t been made a secret that she has always been a big fan of the late Eddie Guerrero and has tried to emulate her career after Latino Heat.

However, with what we have seen from The Boss over the last 15 months, perhaps it is another Hall of Famer that we need to be making comparisons to.

Now before we get ahead of ourselves, in no way am I making any direct comparisons of the two at this point, obviously Banks would have a long way to go to reach this level. But from my point of view, it’s a glimmer of Shawn Michaels that I see.

One of the notches on the Heartbreak Kid’s Hall of Fame belt was his ability to take on new challenges and new innovations. In the early 90’, WWE fans had never seen a match that involved climbing a ladder to win. Whether you think of the classic against Razor Ramon at WrestleMania 10 or the relatively unknown match against Bret Hart prior to that, the common denominator is Michaels.

A few years later, Pat Patterson brought the idea of the Iron Man Match to Vince McMahon. When he did, he already had the two superstars in mind to compete – Hart and, again, Michaels.

A few more years the evolution of the wrestling business evolves the steel cage into Hell in a Cell. Who should we get to test this creation out? Might as well throw ol’ HBK in there!

The bottom line is that it seemed like Michaels was the only man that could handle taking on a new, unprecedented challenge. And each time, HBK would excel!

Is there any question that Sasha Banks is taking that similar path?

Last fall, in a follow-up to their epic confrontation at Takeover : Brooklyn, Banks and Bayley battled for the NXT Womans Championship in the first ever woman’s Iron Man Match. Granted it was a 30 minute match rather than the 60 minute battle we got at WrestleMania 12, but a milestone nonetheless.

In just a few weeks, Banks will be setting another standard as she and Charlotte will be the first women to step through the door of the infamous Hell in a Cell.

Did you notice the word “first” used a couple times there?

Banks was part of the Woman’s Revolution that kicked off last summer and did just that – revolutionized. She has seemed to break away from the pack by taking on any and all new challenges brought to her.

Again, I am not saying that The Boss is on the same playing field as the man that many have called the greatest superstar of all time. But you have to start somewhere.

And, just like Michaels did so many times, Banks seemed eager to create an uncharted somewhere to start.
