Welcome to your tri-weekly look at all things Ohio State recruiting. Let’s get started!
The Saga is Coming Close to an End:
Although he has been committed to the Buckeyes since last January, Shaun Wade has certainly kept things interesting with his recruitment over the past year and a half. While he has maintained that he is 100% committed to Ohio State, he has continued to explore his options visiting Alabama and Notre Dame and flirting with Michigan and other programs as well. He has his last few visits scheduled before his “final” announcement comes. He spoke with 247’s Luke Stampini ($) about his recruitment and where it stands.
“I have Ohio State planned for the Nebraska game (November 5), Virginia Tech planned for the Georgia Tech (November 12), and then the Alabama-Auburn game (November 26),” Wade told 247Sports.
On his scheduled trip to Ohio State and what he wants out of it:
“Really, just seeing where they stand with me. That’s all really…They just want me to stay faithful to them. If I change, they just want to know, but they really, really want me they’ve been telling me.”
The new school in the mix is Virginia Tech, and his thoughts on the Hokies:
“There have been a couple people in my ear talking about Virginia Tech. It’s a good spot for me, and then my brother Isaiah Ford, me and him are pretty close. He said I could go there and play right away. Then, they have a good education up there.”
And Florida continues to be in his ear and coach Jim McElwain was at his game last Friday:
“We talk about every day actually. They say I can come play right away. They got three [defensive backs] that are going to be gone next year, so they say they need [defensive backs] right now. They know I have the talent, they just want to get me big enough, but they know I have the talent to compete in the SEC. That’s what they’re big on.”
And through all of that and the upcoming visits he still says he is 100% to Ohio State, but still looking. Expect a final decision sometime after the November visits as Wade will be an early enrolle wherever he ends up.

Former Buckeye commit goes Blue (No Not That Blue):
About a month ago Danny Clark finally decided that his dream of playing for the Scarlet and Grey was finished and he decommitted in a very personal and emotional letter to Twitter. I have been a huge fan of Clark’s since he became the first commitment for the 2017 class almost 3 years ago. He was thought to be the only quarterback commitment in the class, but when Tate Martell jumped on board back in May things changed. Many speculated that Clark would be asked to take a greyshirt and delay his enrollment for a year, which was later denied by both parties. However, Clark decided it would be in his best interest to look elsewhere as it looked like playing time would be hard to come by.

On Saturday Clark committed to the Kentucky Wildcats of the SEC. Once he decommitted from the Buckeyes back in September it was speculated the Kentucky was the front runner for his services, and he visited two weeks after. He was on campus again this weekend as the Wildcats beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs on a last second field goal. He committed to the coaching staff before the game and becomes the 14th commitment for the Wildcats 2017 class.
I just want to wish Danny all the best down in Lexington, and even though he won’t be playing for the Buckeyes on Saturdays I as well as a lot of other Buckeye fans will be watching more Kentucky football to see him play. Best of luck at Kentucky Danny!
I am blessed and proud to say I'm 100% committed to the University of Kentucky Wildcats! #BBN #GodsPlan #LexVegas pic.twitter.com/2CwA4j7ono

2018 Offensive Tackle Gets Buckeye Offer:
The Buckeyes are still hot on the recruiting trail and they recently offered Jaelyn Duncan a 4-star offensive tackle out of Owings, Maryland. Duncan is rated as the 19th best OT in the class of 2018 and the 6th best prospect from the state of Maryland. Duncan currently has offers from Maryland, Penn State, Temple, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
Duncan was on hand for Friday Night Lights back in July and apparently impressed the coaches enough to warrant an offer. Expect a battle from the above mentioned teams to keep him close to home.

Only a week ago 4-star defensive end Donovan Jeter decided to decommit from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Fast forward to this past weekend and Jeter is now committed to the Michigan Wolverines after his visit. We all know high-school kids are very fickle when it comes to decision making, and committing and decommitting are common place in this recruiting era. When Jeter decommitted last week he posted this on Twitter:

He then took ONE official visit to Michigan before deciding that was the place for him. Like I said, kids are kids and they make decisions based on how they feel at that moment. Apparently the reason he decommitted from Notre Dame was because he was not a fan of Brian Kelly (tweets since been deleted). It will be interesting to see if he takes any other official visits going forward because you know he doesn’t want to take any as a commit. Ohio State was once a player for Jeter’s services, but I for one am not upset that he will not end up in Columbus.
