Jake Moretti to Buffalo Fallout:
In case you missed it last night, the Buckeye’s 2017 recruiting class took a big hit when 4-star offensive tackle Jake Moretti out of Arvada, Colorado decided to flip his commitment to the Colorado Buffaloes. You can see the statement he released on Twitter below.

Moretti had been a member of the 2017 class for over a year, and had wanted to enroll early at Ohio State. He suffered a season ending injury before his senior season, however the Buckeyes were still wanting him to come on board. There are rumors that the Buckeyes did not want him to enroll early because as he is still recovering from an injury, however he still wanted to enroll early in college and that could have been a deciding factor in switching his commitment.
OSU Not in Top 5 for PA Star:
The Buckeye defensive backfield has been stellar this season, and a few of them might even test the draft waters after the season is over, which will leave plenty of room for competition going forward. Ohio State already has commitments from Shaun Wade, Amir Riep, Isaiah Pryor, and Marcus Williamson to solidify their defensive backfield for 2017. Lamont Wade was once a name that was trending toward the Buckeyes, but the numbers game was tight, and he wanted to enroll early which didn’t look possible at Ohio State.
Yesterday, Wade released his top 5 and the Buckeyes did not make the cut which isn’t surprising. I fully expect this one to come down to Penn State and Pittsburgh as I don’t see him leaving the state of Pennsylvania. He has made two official visits, one to Tennessee and one to Penn State. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes are still going strong after Jeffrey Okudah and Bubba Bolden to solidify their backfield.

In-State Target On the Rise?:
With the decomittment of Jake Moretti, there may be an opening for the Buckeyes to take another offensive lineman in this class. Although the numbers are tight, and they do already have commitments from two of the top lineman in the country in Wyatt Davis and Jake Myers, you can never have too much depth on the offensive line. Enter 4-star offensive tackle from Massillon, Ohio Thayer Munford. Munford has 15 offers to date, but is without one from the Buckeyes to this point. He last visited during the Buckeyes Friday Night Lights camp back in July hoping to come away with an offer.
Munford has offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State and Pittsburgh among others. Will the Buckeyes pull the trigger and offer him now that they are down an offensive lineman? While we wait and see if that comes to fruition, Munford will be on an official visit this weekend to Iowa State, after previous unofficials to Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee and Kentucky.
