Did anyone notice how many Mavs fans were sitting behind the Mavs bench during Game 6? Just look at the arms raised in celebration behind the Mavs in this picture. There were a lot of Mavericks fans in the house… because Heat ticket holders sold out.
So why were there so many Mavericks fans at Sunday’s game, most of them near Dallas’ bench? Michael Lipman, whose company helps resell Heat seats, said Heat ticket holders sold 150 seats to Mavericks fans after the Mavs’ premium seat department inquired. Dallas fans paid as much as $3,000 for first- and second-row seats by the Mavericks’ bench in Game 6, as much as $2,000 a few rows back.
“In Dallas, not one person sold to Heat fans,” Lipman said. “They have longtime loyal fans there.” In Miami, with some of the best seats, “you didn’t necessarily have only Heat fans, but wealthy individuals who are basketball fans and wanted to be a part of this. Some of the fans here said, ‘If I sell this game, it will pay for my whole playoff invoice.’”
Apparently these people didn't get the "fan up" memo.
I don't know how you sell a seat to a potential close out game. I just don't get it. I'll cut these guys some slack and say that I can even see selling a seat to Game 2 of the Semifinals, maybe, if you want to make a little cash back and you're pretty confident you'll see this team keep playing.
But to sell your seat to a Mavs fan… when you're down 3-2… and they could celebrate in your house? Hell, if you REALLY wanted to sell your tickets… why not just sell to another Heat fan?
I know there are actual, hardcore Heat fans out there… but you all are being crushed by these idiots. It's just more proof that there's barely a loyal following for this team.
