I don’t ask you guys from much, so when I do, you should know it’s for a good cause.
The Pepsi Refresh project provides grants to help people and organizations make a positive impact in their communities. One Whitewater family is trying to turn the tragic death of their 6-year old son into something positive by building a baseball field in his memory.
You may have seen the recent blog post by Tom Haudricourt about this at JSOnline, or read another story about the family in the Journal-Sentinel. Treyton Kilar lost his life in a car accident caused by a drunk driver, and now his family and the Whitewater community hopes to provide a place for youngsters to achieve the dream Treyton never got to live — playing Major League Baseball.
All you have to do is go online to the project’s page, provide an e-mail address, and click on the “vote” button. That’s it. No credit card numbers, no other personal information. All it takes is a few seconds of your time to vote, and you can come back and vote for the project every day. You can also vote via text message by texting 105500 to the number 73774 (your standard texting rates apply, but that’s the only charge).
I’m not usually one to drum up support for these types of things, but drunk driving strikes a nerve for me. Please go and vote for this project as many times as you possibly can — the project is currently in second place for the $250,000 grant, and voting ends on January 31.
