Henrik Zetterberg Yells “I Get Buckets,” Scores Buzzer-Beating Game-Winner

March Madness is finally here in Hockeytown. For the second night in a row, the Red Wings scored with 0.3 seconds left in overtime to win 4-3, earning a valuable two points in this years Peloton of Suck playoff race. Last night’s hero was Henrik Zetterberg, who D4L sources say is also a big fan of the Gus Johnson soundboard. Here’s the video:

Listen closely and you can faintly hear Zetterberg yelling his favorite Gus Johnson tagline, “I GET BUCKETS” while shooting the puck. Unfortunately, Z wasn’t available after the game, but the D4L interns were able to talk to Tomas Holmstrom about the matter. “Vell Zetterberg yell ‘I GOT BUCKETS’ when he shoot puck past goalie friend, so I run to find ice bucket to give to him but he gone party with Franzen and scary guy.” Holmstrom was then cut off by the team manager, who had finally found his coloring book.

As for the game itself, the Wings once again fell behind 2-0, with Canucks Kyle Wellwood and Shane O’Brien providing the scoring. The Wings roared back in the second, with Tomas Holmstrom and Pavel Datsyuk scoring five seconds apart to tie the game. The 5-second difference in goals is a franchise record, and just two seconds slower than the NHL record of three seconds, set in 2004. Valtteri Filppula scored exactly five minutes after Datsyuk to put the Wings in the lead heading into the third. Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin tied the score at 3 when he caught an airborne puck, dropped it to his stick, and slammed it home. Neither team was able to get another puck into the net until Zetterberg’s game-winner in OT.
