After the Celtics clobbered the helpless Kings at the TD Garden, the Celtics were about as chatty as a teenager at a parent’s book club. Paul Pierce breezed past reporters out the door, Shaquille O’Neal and Ray Allen never stepped in the locker room after Doc Rivers’ postgame comments.
So it left players like Marquis Daniels, Nate Robinson and Davis to do the talking. Daniels seemed OK with it, but Davis and Robinson were obviously not thrilled. This on a night when the team won by 24 points and the line of questioning wouldn’t exactly be something out of Chazz Palminteri in the “The Usual Suspects.”
But, give them credit, Davis and Robinson spoke, but by doing so said some unnerving things about how the Celtics are trending in the dog days of winter.
“We’ve been really struggling on the defensive end going against other teams and not taking them seriously,” said Davis. “We took these guys seriously in the second half.”
Robinson said the team needs to be “fired up” – and indication perhaps the team has not been so “fired up” in recent weeks.
We heard all this stuff last year too. "We've got to take teams more seriously… blah blah blah"
Are we going to go through this one more time? I mean… I'm not worried if the C's slip to 2nd… even 3rd in the conference. But we can't sleepwalk through another 3 months and then try to turn it on again, can we?
